About PU-AMI: About Première Urgence - Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) PU-AMI (known globally as Première Urgence Internationale, PUI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious international aid organization. PU-AMI’s teams are committed to support vulnerable communities and populations, those marginalized, hit by conflict, natural disaster or economic downturns. PU-AMI’s main objective is to contribute to reduction in morbidity and mortality, and provide emergency relief to those in immediate need in order to help them regain their dignity. Afghan mission is the oldest of PUI missions, with the first medical intervention launched in 1979 just after the Soviet troops crossed the country’s borders. PU-AMI teams currently deliver the integrated health care, combined with nutrition, psychosocial support; water, sanitation and hygiene (wash), as well as trauma services. The organization implements projects mainly in eastern parts of the country, and increasingly in the South-East Region. Since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, PU-AMI has also positioned itself as one of the main actors in preparedness and response to the pandemic, implementing health and wash-cantered activities at health facilities and community level in Kabul and beyond. Globally, PUI provides assistance to around 6 million people in 23 countries and across 5 continents: Africa, Asia, Middle East, Latin America, and Europe. Job Description
Responsibilities and particular assignmentsمسؤلیت ها و وظایف مشخص
- Participate to project design and proposal writing regarding trauma care sector for PU-AMI Afghanistan, under the supervision of the Deputy Health Coordinator.
- Supervise the implementation of trauma care activities/projects, including financial and technical follow up.
- Monitor and support trauma care projects by frequently doing regular field visits to field.
- Ensure proper capacity building for the health staff involved in trauma projects and organization of internal or external trainings related to trauma.
- Review, analyse and finalize monthly, quarterly and project reports drafted by the field teams, including narrative, epidemiology, and quantitative and qualitative indicators.
- Assure coordination and representation amongst health partners particularly in the field of trauma care.
Objective 1هدف اول : Capacity building of PU-AMI staff in emergency trauma
Main activitiesفعالیت ها/ وظایف عمده:
- Conduct Basic Lifesaving training and refresher training as per PM instructions.
- Conduct Advanced Lifesaving training as per PM instructions.
- Develop internal curriculum and training material for BSL/ALS trainings.
- Develop capacity building plans for technical supervision project team and for health facility medical staff to improve the quality of trauma care given in supported clinics.
Objective 2هدف دوم: Supervision of emergency health facility staff
Main activities فعالیت ها/ وظایف عمده:
- Conduct field supervision of clinic medical staff receiving BSL/ASL to supervise quality of care provided to patients, reporting systems.
- Implement capacity building plans developed for office and field staff as per objective 1.
- Monitor the impact of the capacity building plans and make recommendations accordingly.
- Ensure proper use of medical equipment supplied to HFs by ECHO.
- Provide on the job training as needed.
- Need assessment for life saving related trainings and medical equipment at HFs level.
- Capitalize on field experiences by using lessons learnt from one province/project to provide insight and recommendations to another province/project.
Objective 3هدف سوم : Reporting and Coordination
Activities/Main duties فعالیت ها/ وظایف عمده:
- Participate to reporting systems on ECHO project for activities under his/her direct responsibility
- Write training reports.
- Take part in all meetings and initiatives from project team and medical department at coordination level to improve the quality and accuracy of collected data.
- Launch, implement and supervise assessments whenever required by line manager.
- Participate in internal and external coordination forums whenever required by line manager.
- Update training database after each training.
Job Requirement
Qualification/ Requirements تحصیلات و شرایط لازمه
- Education as medical doctor with specialization of Orthopedic - Traumatology, Intensive care or General Surgery.
- Certification of trainer on BSL/ASL
- Experience with INGO/ NGO, an asset
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) English, Dari and/or Pashto
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure, in challenging security environments.
- Good interpersonal skills, motivation for teamwork.
- Full proficiency in MS office
- Good knowledge of Afghanistan health policies and strategies.
- Ability to travel to the health facilities.
