Job Description

  • Conduct geological mapping and surveys of identified areas for mineral exploration.
  • Develop accurate geological maps, sections, and reports based on field data. 
  • Design and implement geological exploration programs, including surface mapping, sampling, trenching, and geophysical surveys & develop and maintain exploration budgets and timelines.
  • Conduct mineral prospecting and identify areas of interest for further exploration.
  • Collect geological samples, including rock, soil, and core samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Oversee field sampling programs, ensuring proper sample documentation and preservation.
  • Use GIS, remote sensing, and other geospatial tools for data analysis, mapping, and resource identification.
  • Perform geospatial analysis to create geological models and interpret data for resource estimation.
  • Supervise core logging activities, ensuring accurate logging of geological features.
  • Oversee the preparation of geological reports based on core sample data.
  • Coordinate geophysical surveys, including magnetic, resistivity, and ground-penetrating radar surveys.
  • Supervise geochemical exploration programs to analyze soil and rock samples for mineral content.
  • Plan and oversee drilling programs for subsurface exploration, including selection of drilling locations and coordination with drill crews.
  • Supervise drilling contractors and ensure quality control of core sampling and logging.
  • Integrate geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to build comprehensive 3D geological models using specialized software such as Leapfrog or Micro mine.
  • Analyze exploration data to refine geological models and identify areas for further drilling or sampling.
  • Collaborate with resource geologists to estimate mineral resources using statistical methods and geological modeling techniques.
  • Contribute to NI 43-101 or JORC resource reports and ensure compliance with international standards.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing exploration findings, including geological mapping, resource estimations, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all field data, drill logs, geological maps, and sample results.
  • Ensure exploration activities comply with environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments for proposed exploration activities and monitor the implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety protocols during all fieldwork activities.
  • Monitor field conditions and take corrective action to ensure the safety of the exploration team.
  • Engage with local communities, authorities, and stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of exploration activities.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses for exploration activities from local or national authorities.
  • Work closely with mining engineers, environmental scientists, and other professionals to align exploration objectives with project goals & Ensure that exploration processes follow industry standards and best practices.
  • Participate in team discussions, ensuring that geological inputs are integrated into project planning and design.
  • Stay current with advances in geological exploration technologies and methodologies.
  • Explore the application of new techniques such as drones, AI, or augmented reality for exploration and data collection.
  • Provide technical training and mentoring to junior geologists and field technicians.
  • Conduct workshops to improve skills in geological mapping, sampling, and data analysis.
  • Establish and oversee quality control protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of geological data.
  • Present exploration findings to senior management, project teams, and external stakeholders in meetings and conferences.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to convey complex geological data in an understandable format.
  • Conduct post-exploration evaluations to analyze the effectiveness of exploration programs and recommend adjustments for future activities.
  • Provide detailed technical advice on further exploration or exploitation strategies based on results.
  • Coordinate between exploration teams, management, and external contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Maintain regular reporting on exploration progress, challenges, and key findings to senior management.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mineral Exploration, Earth Sciences, or a related field (Master Preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in in geological mapping and mineral exploration.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and geological modeling tools (Leapfrog, Micro mine, Surfer).
  • Strong understanding of geophysical and geochemical methods.
  • Experience with drilling and sampling techniques.
  • Excellent data interpretation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work in remote locations and challenging field conditions.
  • Strong project management, budgeting, and scheduling abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
