Job Description
Overall Responsibilities:
The incumbent will oversee the implementation of nutrition services under the Scale-up of Nutrition program in Family Health Houses (FHHs) and Non-HER Health Facilities in Nuristan, Nangarhar, and Kunar provinces. The supervisor will regularly provide supportive supervision and on-the-job training to nutrition nurses and counselors, coordinate with FHH & health facility staff and community members to ensure smooth project implementation through regular field visits to the targeted provinces.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular supportive supervision visits to targeted FHHs and Non-HER Health Facilities.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentors to the project staff.
- Ensure all children under 5 years are screened for malnutrition and RUTF treatment is provided to detected SAM children.
- Ensure project staff deliver appropriate MIYCN and IYCF counseling and other health messages to visiting lactating women.
- Enhance staff technical nutrition management skills through formal and informal training.
- Establish and maintain good coordination with FHH and health facility staff, as well as community elders and members.
- Ensure project staff are equipped with up-to-date nutrition-related information, guidelines, procedures, manuals, databases, and forms.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret nutrition data from the field, provide timely and relevant feedback to staff.
- Develop and submit nutrition reports according to donor & AWUDO requirements, comprising daily, monthly, quarterly, annual, and project completion reports.
- Maintain good cooperation and coordination with relevant MoPH departments and stakeholders in the targeted provinces.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to provide data using standard reporting tools.
- Keep accurate records (both soft and hard copies) of all documents related to nutrition interventions in FHHs and Non-HER Health Facilities, submitting them to Manager in a timely manner.
- Comply with AWUDO policies regarding child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant procedures.
- Respect cultures, traditions, and customs of target communities.
- Carry out other tasks within the field of competence as requested by the line manager.
- Report any suspicions or actual violations of the Safeguarding Policy and/or Child Safeguarding Policy on time.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of presentations at official events related to nutrition.
- Participate in data collection and analysis regarding the nutrition situation and its impact assessment.
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Experience:
- Graduate of a Medical Faculty; a diploma in Nutrition is preferable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Willingness to travel to covered FHHs and Health Facilities in Nuristan, Nangarhar, and Kunar.
- Good verbal and written skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Adaptability to a changing work atmosphere.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
