Job Description
Objective:
The Pediatric Specialist is responsible for identifying and treating emergency patients, particularly those with urgent and complex cases. They are also responsible for diagnosing diseases and recommending medications at the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducted examinations, diagnosed, and treated pediatric patients, including infectious diseases, in accordance with the standards set by the Ministry of Public Health, including comprehensive childhood illness treatment.
- Identify and report issues that interfere with healthcare services.
- Identify and hospitalize emergency and complicated pediatric cases.
- Complete patient files by taking medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and prescribing treatments according to disease diagnosis based on standard guidelines.
- Monitor hospitalized patients during their stay based on progress notes.
- Hospitalize patients with Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and diagnose and treat malnutrition-related diseases.
- Participate in training sessions provided by the implementing organization.
- Attend hospital monthly meetings and committees as required.
- Refer patients to other well-equipped centers for further examination and treatment based on diagnosis.
- Maintain the registration book, referral forms, and discharge letters, and ensure continuous documentation of patient diagnoses, medication recommendations, and referrals to higher centers, along with other necessary advice during examinations.
- Collaborate with all departments of the health center, including providing practical training.
- Perform specialized procedures for patients in need and train junior doctors in these procedures.
- Possess sufficient knowledge of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and implement it in practice.
- Adhere to night duty shifts based on the monthly duty roster.
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by the relevant supervisor or organization officials.
Job Requirement
- A specialty degree in pediatrics from a recognized entity is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in the field.
- Prior experience in a similar role is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Dari, Pashto, and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is essential.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and take initiative.
- Must be an Afghan citizen.
- Integrity and a strong commitment to organizational goals are essential.
