About RCY: Rehabilitation Center of Youth (RCY) Is a non-profit, non-governmental organization and registered with Afghanistan Ministry of Economy on 2006 which registration number (645) working in various fields of construction, health, agriculture, education and social protection. RCY is operating in the field of orthopedic and physiotherapy services in Jalalabad, Khost, Daikundi and Herat provinces. Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Orthopedic Device Repair and Maintenance:
    • Repair and maintain orthopedic devices, including prosthetics, orthotics, braces, and splints, using appropriate tools, equipment, and materials.
    • Conduct inspections, assessments, and adjustments of orthopedic devices to ensure proper functioning, fit, and comfort for patients.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues or damages in orthopedic devices, performing repairs or replacements as necessary.
  2. Orthopedic Device Fabrication and Modification:
    • Fabricate orthopedic devices and components, such as prosthetic sockets, orthotic braces, and splints, according to patient prescriptions and specifications.
    • Utilize carpentry and metalworking techniques to shape, mold, and assemble orthopedic devices from raw materials, including wood, metal, and plastic.
    • Modify existing orthopedic devices to accommodate changes in patient needs or functional requirements, ensuring optimal fit and functionality.
  3. Workshop Management and Inventory Control:
    • Manage workshop facilities, tools, and equipment for orthopedic device repair and fabrication, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and efficiency.
    • Maintain inventory of materials, supplies, and spare parts for orthopedic device repair and fabrication, monitoring stock levels and procurement needs.
    • Coordinate with project coordinators and healthcare providers to prioritize repair and fabrication requests, ensuring timely delivery of orthopedic devices to patients.
  4. Documentation and Quality Assurance:
    • Maintain accurate records of orthopedic device repair and fabrication activities, including work orders, inventory transactions, and patient information.
    • Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, safety regulations, and infection control protocols in all aspects of orthopedic device repair and fabrication.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, training programs, and workshops to enhance technical skills, knowledge, and performance.

 

  1. Office Responsibility:
    • Designing and implementing the work plan and obtaining approval from the project manager.
    • Necessary coordination in the advancement of activities.
    • Regular creation of filing system.
    • Providing accurate daily, monthly and quarterly reports to direct supervisors.
    • Run and update databases.
    • Correct use of materials, tools and equipment related to the office.
    • Regulating, maintaining and taking care of the property and goods of the department.
    • Develop and streamline operational efficiencies.
    • Contact delinquent accounts.
    • Raising the level of knowledge and capacity building.
    • Compliance with all ethical code, code of conduct, disciplines introduced by the organization.
    • Obtaining complete knowledge about the organization and all the policies of the organization.
    • Stay current with all regulations, requirements, and laws of government of Afghanistan
    • Good behavior with clients and staff.
    • Inform the direct commander in time of any kind of accidents that have happened.
    • Carrying out other tasks assigned by the department.

Job Requirement

  1. Diploma or certification in mechanical engineering, carpentry, or related field from a recognized institution.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical repairs, carpentry, or metalworking, preferably in a workshop or manufacturing setting.
  3. Knowledge of orthopedic device repair techniques, materials, and components advantageous.
  4. Proficiency in using hand and power tools, equipment, and machinery for mechanical and carpentry work.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  6. Proficiency in spoken and written Dari or Pashto; basic English language skills desirable.
  7. Ability to work in challenging environments and travel within the assigned provinces as required.
