About Bakhtar Development Network (BDN): Bakhtar Development Network (BDN) was established in 2001 as a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political organization in Afghanistan. BDN envisages a society where people are motivated to aim for a better future and hence, BDN exists to help communities achieve their development goals. Since its inception, BDN has been implementing various health, nutrition, education, and community development projects. BDN focuses on three main dimensions while implementing health, nutrition, and other development projects; 1) Evidence-based delivery of services; 2) capacity building of service providers, and 3) improving staff’s managerial capacity to better plan and manage projects. For more than 18 years, BDN has been able to contribute significantly to improving people's access to high-quality health care and building a history of successful implementation of health, nutrition, and community development projects across Afghanistan. BDN currently provides the Basic Package of Health Services in Balkh, Baghlan, and Takhar provinces under the World Bank-financed Sehatmandi Project. Through implementing Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness (ERHSP) projects in Balkh, Baghlan, and Takhar provinces, BDN also contributes to the fight against COVID-19 Pandemic. Job Description
The role of Nutrition officer provides exclusively focused on nutrition activities in Balkh Province. Primary responsibilities include managing, coordinating, and supervising project activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities.
- Assessing and evaluating the nutrition activities in accordance with the plan, policy, and regulations of the organization and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring the quality and the implementation of nutrition activities through monitoring/field visits.
- Assisting the projects in the recruitment of nutrition staff.
- Cooperating with who, UNICEF, MoPH, and other stakeholders in the implementation of nutrition activities.
- Collecting nutrition activities report, analyzing the data, and giving feedbacks to nutrition staff of the projects.
- Assisting projects in designing, planning, and arranging the nutrition training, as well as, supporting the training needs of nutrition activities in the projects.
- Preparing an annual plan of training activities of nutrition departments.
- Assisting projects to establish and maintain the IMAM and IYCF activities in health facilities.
- Monitoring the implementation of nutrition guidelines at the health facilities level.
- Contributing to developing different nutrition reports.
- Participating in coordination meetings related to nutrition task forces and represent BDN.
Job Requirement
- University degree from recognized medical university as MD
- At least 3-year full-time experience.in nutrition
- Training received in Nutrition reporting and nutrition database
- Experience preparing timely, accurate, and informative Nutrition reports.
- Good command of both written & spoken English.
- Analytical mind, detail-oriented, responsible, and able to meet tight deadlines
- Certificate in the English language.
- Excellent communication skills Dari, Pashto, and English.
- Interest and ability to travel extensively in the field.
- Excellent computer knowledge.
- Honest and trustworthy.
