Job Summary

CBARD-RoP is seeking ambitious and energetic candidates for Quality Control Engineer to oversee the construction of Irrigation Canals’ Rehabilitation. He will work directly under the supervision of Irrigation Team Lead. He will manage all quality control & and assurance activities at the site, responsible for the implementation of quality control procedures and plans for providing more efficient on-site rehabilitation work. Furthermore, he will support Field engineers and will provide directions on quality control of Irrigation Canal Rehabilitation.

The QC Engineer will entail seeking and ensuring compliance from RoP-CBARD onsite testing facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Follow up the Q/C standards during rehabilitation work of irrigation canals
• In conjunction with the respective contractors facilitate the testing of materials in laboratories in the region.
• Perform cost estimation of the planned activities.
• Make a schedule of testing of materials for each contract and ensure the tests are carried out as planned.
• Ensure the right quality and quantity of proposed irrigation canal rehabilitation
• Train the provincial site supervisors in verifying and certifying the quality of materials prior to their use in the site for construction.
• Maintain and document the records of reports of tests carried out on the sites of construction.
• Investigate and report contractor’s concerns related to quality control issues as may be required.
• Main the required design slope in the irrigation canals.
• Prepare and submit reports on project works, contractor’s performance, and quality of work when making field visits.
• Inform on problems or potential problems with respect to materials and quality that arise in connection with the works contract and make recommendations for possible solutions.
• Provide timely assistance and direction on all matters related to the interpretation of the quality control testing and other matters related to contract compliance and the progress of a project.
• Review as may be necessary, all laboratory and field-testing of materials and equipment products needed to assure that the quality standards specified in the contract documents are met.
• Standardization for all geotechnical and material exploration (both soil and rock) for Irrigation Canals rehabilitation, high embankments, and cut slopes susceptible to erosion/landslide, various laboratory testing of soil samples.
• Ensure that the quality-related site activities are in accordance with the applicable codes, standards, drawings, and specifications.
• Check the Irrigation Canal Rehabilitation according to its specifications.
• Reviewing design documents, plans, specifications, and maps.
• Review submittals for submission to the design documents.
• Control all nonconformance reports and ensure undertake remedial action.
• Report deviations and defective work to the RoP-CBARD main office timely basis.
• Checking plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
• Maintain continuous inspections of all phases of construction.
• Report all quality control efforts and results on a daily basis.
• Maintain plans, civil/structure maps, submittals, and daily reports.
• Become thoroughly familiar with the quality control plan.
• Before the start of each phase of work, review thoroughly the applicable submittals, technical maps, maps, and specifications associated with that activity to ensure submissions.
• Occasionally, travel to other target provinces of RoP-CBARD for irrigation canals’ rehabilitation work supervision.
• Performing other duties assigned by Irrigation Team Lead.
