About HealthNet TPO: HealthNet TPO is a Netherlands based not for profit, non-governmental organization founded on the principle that access to affordable quality health care is a basic human right. In 1992 HealthNet TPO was established by ‘Doctors without Borders’ to bridge the gap between emergency aid and structural development. The organization is now the result of a merger between HealthNet International (HNI) and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO). HNI has knowledge and experience in reinforcing healthcare systems and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of transmissible diseases. TPO is an expert in the field of psychosocial and mental health care for survivors of war and natural disasters. HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is managed by a team of qualified Afghans and supported by a team of experts at the HQ of the organization in Holland. HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. HealthNet TPO is currently implementing projects in almost 20 provinces of Afghanistan and the major program it implements are HER (Health Emergency Response) projects in three provinces, Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial, Malaria Control program, Tuberculus....... through a community system strengthening approach. HealthNet TPO has a zero tolerance toward sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse. HNITPO takes seriously all concerns and complaints about sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse involving HNITPO employees and Related Personnel.

Job Description

Purpose:

The Field Research Officer is responsible for overseeing and supporting the implementation of HealthNet TPO's implementation research on problem management plus (PM+) conducting in the field. This includes facilitating stakeholder engagement, coordinating the collection and analysis of data, and building the research capacity of local teams and partners. By ensuring high-quality research activities are executed in the field, the Field Research Officer plays a key role in conducting the envisaged implementation research on PM+ in target areas and generating evidence about the PM+ scale-up in Afghanistan.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the implementation of the PM+ implementation research at the provincial and regional levels, including overseeing data collection, data quality assurance, and timely reporting
  • Sepervise CHW PM+ delivery to the mental health patients and CHW data collection
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement at the provincial and regional level, including coordinating meetings.
  • Build the research capacity of provincial program teams and partners on PM+ through training, mentoring, and technical assistance
  • Contribute to the dissemination of Implementation research on PM+ results at the provincial and regional level
  • Ensure timely and high-quality documentation of Implementation research on PM+ activities and outputs
  • Ensure all Implementation research on PM+ activities are conducted in accordance with ethical standards and data protection protocols
  • Collaborate with the Research Coordinator and MHPSS research manager to align field research efforts with the HealthNet TPO research strategy

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in medicine (MD), psychology, public health or health science.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in research implementation, preferably in the healthcare
  • Quantitative and qualitative research skills, including proficiency in data collection, management, and basics of data analysis
  • Project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Familiarity with research ethics and data protection protocols
  • Fluency in English and local languages Pashto and Dari
  • Experience working in fragile or conflict-affected settings is desirable
