Job Description

The geologist will be responsible for geological assessments, exploration, and development of raw materials (limestone, clay, etc.) for cement production. This role involves conducting field studies, analyzing geological data, and ensuring the efficient extraction of raw materials while adhering to environmental and safety regulations. Additionally, the geologist should be familiar with the cement production process and have relevant experience in the industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

1.     Exploration and Assessment:

a.      Conduct geological surveys and field investigations to identify potential raw material deposits.

b.     Collect, analyse, and interpret geological data from various sources, including field samples, maps, and reports.

c.      Use geophysical and geochemical techniques to locate and evaluate deposits.

 

2.     Resource Estimation:

a.      Estimate the quantity and quality of raw materials available for cement production.

b.     Develop and maintain geological models and databases.

 

3.     Mine Planning and Development:

a.      Assist in the planning and design of mining operations, including pit designs and extraction methods.

b.     Monitor and optimize the extraction process to ensure maximum resource utilization and minimal environmental impact.

 

4.     Quality Control:

a.      Oversee the sampling and testing of raw materials to ensure they meet quality standards for cement production.

b.     Work closely with the production and exploration team to adjust processes based on raw material quality and availability.

 

5.     Environmental Compliance:

a.      Ensure all geological activities comply with environmental regulations and standards.

b.     Participate in environmental impact assessments and develop strategies to mitigate environmental risks.

 

6.     Reporting and Documentation:

a.      Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

b.     Maintain accurate records of all geological activities and findings.

c.      Prepare and deliver accurate reports on a quarterly, monthly, and annual basis, ensuring comprehensive data analysis and adherence to organizational standards.

7.     Collaboration and Communication:

a.      Maintain communication with governmental offices to ensure compliance with local regulations and secure necessary permits for mining operations. Additionally, fostering relationships with regulatory agencies is crucial for submitting environmental impact assessments and addressing any concerns that may arise during project execution.

b.     Work closely with mining engineers, production managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient and sustainable extraction of raw materials.

c.      Provide technical support and guidance to the mining and production teams.

 

8.     Safety:

a.      Adhere to and enforce safety protocols and standards in all geological and mining activities.

b.     Participate in safety training and initiatives to promote a safe working environment.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Master's degree preferred.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in cement industry for master, and 5 years for Bachelor degree holders.
  • Proficiency in geological software and tools (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, Mine planning software).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards in the mining industry.
  • Physical ability to conduct fieldwork in various terrains and weather conditions.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Proficiency in English is required. 
  • Fluency in Pashto and Dari is also essential.
  • Knowledge of cement production processes and raw material requirements.
  • Familiarity with modern mining technologies and practices.
