In 1992 HealthNet TPO was established by ‘Doctors without Borders’ to bridge the gap between emergency aid and structural development. The organization is now the result of a merger between HealthNet International (HNI) and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO). HNI has knowledge and experience in reinforcing healthcare systems and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of transmissible diseases. HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. HealthNet TPO is currently implementing projects in almost 20 provinces of Afghanistan and the major program it implements are HER (Health Emergency Response) projects in three provinces, Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial, Malaria Control program, Tuberculus....... through a community system strengthening approach. Job Description

  • Perform TB active case finding (ACF) through conducting TB screening among Afghan returnees and migrants with particular focus on areas of high return and cross-border migration, such as at border crossings points, in cross-border communities, and in settlements that migrant and returnee populations at greater risk of potential exposure to TB.
  • Ensure the referral of all detected presumptive TB cases to the nearest diagnostic health facilities and ensure the completion of the required laboratory examinations.
  • Performed proper documentation of newly diagnosed TB cases for follow up; record TB patients’ full information, contacts, referrals, treatment, and follow up.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and collaborative relationships with clients, partners, and health professionals.
  • Build strong cooperative relations with health facility and involved sides.
  • Regular follow up from confirmed TB cases with health facilities.
  • Coordinate with partners who provide services for returnees and migrants to integrate TB awareness raising within their activities to expand outreach.
  • Insure collection of accurate data, interpretation of data and analysis of the collected data.
  • Active participation in TB relevant training and meeting if any.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the TB-RSSH project focal point on the progress of field activities and challenges encountered, as well as summary information on numbers screened, presumptive cases detected and referred, positive cases diagnosed, and the completion status of treatment.
  • Implement the agreed upon SOPs and follow the national TB guidelines during daily activities.
  • Support the field implementation of the Global Fund Regional Cross-border TB Catalytic Grant supported project, “TB/MDR-TB INTERVENTIONS AMONG AFGHAN REFUGEES, RETURNEES.
  •  Perform any related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirement

  • Graduated from a recognized Medical University or Health institute (MD/Nurse/Lab Tech).
  • Experience in TB and other performed screening activities.
  • To be fluent in writing and speaking local languages.
  • Ability to work long hours, often under pressure.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work in team or individually.
