Job Description

Main duties and responsibilities:

The TSFP Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the smooth and proper implementation and proper storage and distribution of the Nutrients properly by the WFP. S/he is reportable to the Technical Manager and program director of the organization and following are the main responsibility of the position:

  1. TSFP project supervisor under the direct supervision of the Technical Manager will be responsible for the close coordination of project activities in HFs of Urozgan Provinces.
  2. Responsible for planning, implementation, Supervision and Monitoring of Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) in HFs Level.
  3. Meeting regularly with TSFP Assistances and community leaders to ensure program effectiveness and community awareness of TFSP.
  4. Monitoring usage of food commodities.
  5. Ensuring the appropriate and timely distribution of food to eligible beneficiaries.
  6. Prepare and Submit weekly report.
  7. Prepare and submit accurate and timely monthly reports. And analysis of HFs monthly reports and Share feedback with HFs,
  8. Ensure that accurate records of food consumption are kept and the HFs are advised of stock balances in a timely manner (to avoid stock-outs).
  9. Prepare monthly activity reports of the supervision and submission them to the TSFP Project Focal Point.
  10. Compare consumption/distribution of RUSF & Super cereal with monthly report/registers and stock and stock card quantity and share feedback with an action plan and follow up
  11. Regular preparation of feedback and action plans after each supervision/monitoring and sharing with the line manager
  12. The TSFP supervisor provides high-quality technical assistance and support to technical staff and Health Facilities staff; he/she will work to increase health facility staff capacity to deliver appropriate services to improve women and children's nutritional status.
  13. Regular supervision of health facility staff (TSFP assistance, Nutrition nurses, and head of health facilities) to ensure the proper delivery of nutritional services (prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment).
  14. Assist TSFP Officer/TSFP Project Focal Point and TSFP team if need
  15. Responsible for timely request of food from WFP.
  16. Regular requests, use, and requests of TSFP-related formats.
  17. Conduct training in the field of Nutrition for Health facilities staff and if required for CHS& CHWs Inspire the medical staff in daily malnutrition screening and proper nutritional consultation in health facilities.
  18. Help the technical team in setting the target indicators for nutritional/health up to the end of the project.
  19. Conduct regular supportive supervision of at least 30 HFs per month and CHWs in order to ensure smooth implementation of TSFP projects at HF levels.
  20. Evaluate progress towards indicators and
  21. Data entry of monthly TSFP reports accordingly
  22. Ensure of implementation of MAM, GM and IYCF at HF levels.
  23. Ensure that all patients are being screened properly through weight, height, and MUAC at HF levels.
  24. Ensuring that consultation, diagnosis and treatment of malnourished patients are being done as per the IMAM protocol by all HFs.
  25. Ensuring that all food stocks at all target HFs are well functional and suitable for storage of food commodities.
  26. Ensuring that all nutrition related data such as TSFP monthly statistical reports, SAM statistical monthly reports, IYCF and micronutrients monthly reports are collected and submitted to the Main Office on timely manner.
  27. Submitting reports of the supervision visits and also a follow up schedule with specific remedial actions recommended to be taken if the observations are not addressed properly by the HFs.
  28. Ensuring that nutrition data base is up to date and data are entered within the specific intervals and the outcome is communicated with line manager in timely manner. 
  29. Represent the project in all platforms and present the project achievements and status. 
  30. Develop the capacity of  IMAM workers regarding the best approach for program coverage
  31. Ensure that adequate IMAM related supplies are available according to caseload estimations for each FDP.
  32. Any other duties assigned by line manager.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:

  1. Education
  • MD medical degree certified by higher education authority in Afghanistan.
  • Attended MAM, IMNCI, Nutrition, Monitoring and Supervision trainings (at least 6 of them) according to the BPHS guideline.
  1. Experience
  • At least 5-7 year work experience with health sector minimum 3-5 years full time work experience in nutrition project as supervisor level.
  • Computer literacy for spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Strong interpersonal communications and leadership skills.
  • Progress updates: The Project Officer will update the Program Manager on the progress of data collection regularly. They will provide progress reports, including any issues or challenges that arise, and ensure that data collection is conducted according to project requirements.
  • Having community-level work experience and skills.
  • Fluent English, Pashto, and Dari with excellent speaking and writing skills;
  • Proficient computing skills including word processing, spreadsheet design and PPT presentation.

  • Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and harsh conditions; ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues in a responsible and mature manner;
  • Excellent capacity development and teamwork skills; cross-cultural and gender sensitivity;
