OSAA was officially registered with the Afghan Ministry of Economy as a national NGO in 2015, aiming to foster the economic and social development of society, in particular women in Afghanistan. Job Description
OSAA organization is initiating a project to provide healthcare support to women affected by recent natural disasters, specifically earthquakes, in Herat Province. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Female Psychosocial Workers to join our team. This is an emergency project, and the selected candidates will play a crucial role in providing mental health support and counseling to women affected by the recent earthquakes in Herat.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and provide individual and group counseling to women who have experienced trauma and distress due to the earthquakes.
- Create a safe and supportive environment for women to express their emotions and share their experiences.
- Develop and implement psychosocial support plans tailored to the needs of each individual, focusing on resilience-building and coping strategies.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community workers to ensure holistic care and referrals for specialized services, if needed.
- Facilitate support groups and educational sessions on topics such as stress management, self-care, and emotional well-being.
- Provide psychoeducation to women and their families about common psychological reactions to trauma and strategies for recovery.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client assessments, counseling sessions, and progress.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions and modify approaches as necessary.
- Stay updated with best practices and developments in the field of psychosocial support and trauma-informed care.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in providing psychosocial support and counseling, preferably in emergency or disaster contexts.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and psychosocial support approaches.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Empathetic and non-judgmental approach to working with women.
- Knowledge of evidence-based counseling techniques and interventions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with other professionals.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of gender issues and their impact on mental health.
- Fluency in Dari and Pashto is required. Knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for client care.
