Job Description

OSAA Institute is initiating a project to provide healthcare support to women affected by recent natural disasters, specifically earthquakes, in Herat Province. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) to join our team. This is an emergency project, and the selected candidate will play a crucial role in providing medical care and counseling to women covered under the project.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and provide appropriate treatment and care to women affected by natural disasters, with a particular focus on obstetrics and gynecological health.
  2. Offer counseling and guidance to women regarding reproductive health, family planning, and pregnancy-related issues.
  3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the project team to ensure holistic and integrated care for women.
  4. Adhere to medical ethics and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  5. Provide support and guidance to the project team in implementing healthcare interventions and strategies.
  6. Participate in training sessions and capacity-building activities for project staff and community health workers.
  7. Document medical records accurately and maintain proper documentation of patient care and treatment.
  8. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of healthcare interventions and propose improvements when necessary.
  9. Stay updated with the latest medical research and advancements in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
  10. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities and healthcare providers, to ensure effective collaboration and referral systems.

Job Requirement

  • Medical degree (MBBS/MD) specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Valid medical license and registration to practice in Afghanistan.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an OB/GYN, preferably in emergency or disaster settings.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in obstetrics and gynecological healthcare, including antenatal care, postnatal care, family planning, and reproductive health.
  • Excellent clinical skills and the ability to manage obstetric emergencies.
  • Proficient in providing counseling and emotional support to women in distress.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian principles, emergency response, and gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and challenging environment.
  • Fluency in Pashto and Dari is required. Knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
