Job Description
OSAA Institute is initiating a project to provide healthcare support to women affected by recent natural disasters, specifically earthquakes, in Herat Province. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) to join our team. This is an emergency project, and the selected candidate will play a crucial role in providing medical care and counseling to women covered under the project.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and provide appropriate treatment and care to women affected by natural disasters, with a particular focus on obstetrics and gynecological health.
- Offer counseling and guidance to women regarding reproductive health, family planning, and pregnancy-related issues.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the project team to ensure holistic and integrated care for women.
- Adhere to medical ethics and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Provide support and guidance to the project team in implementing healthcare interventions and strategies.
- Participate in training sessions and capacity-building activities for project staff and community health workers.
- Document medical records accurately and maintain proper documentation of patient care and treatment.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of healthcare interventions and propose improvements when necessary.
- Stay updated with the latest medical research and advancements in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities and healthcare providers, to ensure effective collaboration and referral systems.
Job Requirement
- Medical degree (MBBS/MD) specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Valid medical license and registration to practice in Afghanistan.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an OB/GYN, preferably in emergency or disaster settings.
- Strong knowledge and expertise in obstetrics and gynecological healthcare, including antenatal care, postnatal care, family planning, and reproductive health.
- Excellent clinical skills and the ability to manage obstetric emergencies.
- Proficient in providing counseling and emotional support to women in distress.
- Familiarity with humanitarian principles, emergency response, and gender-sensitive approaches.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and challenging environment.
- Fluency in Pashto and Dari is required. Knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
