Job Description

Green Social Research Organization (GSRO) is searching for a dedicated and experienced Agriculture Trainer Specialist to join our team. As an Agriculture Trainer Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in driving the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices among smallholder farmers in Zindajan District. Your expertise in training and collaboration will contribute to improving livelihoods and enhancing resilience to climate change in the project's target areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Awareness Raising Sessions:
  • Deliver awareness raising sessions to smallholder farmers and local communities, highlighting the importance and benefits of climate-smart agricultural practices.
  • Utilize various communication methods (presentations, demonstrations, visual aids, etc.) to effectively convey key messages and encourage behavior change.
  1. Training Program Development:
  • Develop comprehensive training materials and resources related to climate-smart agricultural practices, including water-efficient irrigation, soil conservation, crop diversification, and agroforestry.
  • Adapt training materials to suit the specific needs and context of smallholder farmers in the project's target areas.
  1. Training Delivery:
  • Conduct interactive and engaging training workshops and demonstrations for smallholder farmers, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and practical skill development.
  • Provide guidance and support to farmers in implementing climate-smart practices on their farms.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, including participant details, topics covered, and evaluation results.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on training activities, including progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  1. Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Collaborate with other project team members, extension workers, and community engagement specialists, to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to farmer training.
 

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in agriculture.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in the field of agriculture.
  • In-depth knowledge of climate-smart agricultural practices, including water management, soil conservation, crop diversification, hydroponic and agroforestry.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse groups of farmers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications and technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and digital tools for training delivery.
