AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Job Description
Job Summary:
The position holder will provide key nutrition messages to pregnant and lactating women, and caregivers, screening under five-year-old children and pregnant and lactating women for SAM and MAM cases. Consulting pregnant and lactating women women on breastfeeding, and registering and recording all cases correctly and completely.
Duties and responsibilities
- • Growth monitoring of all under two years children and registering them.
• Proper nutritional counseling for pregnant and lactating women and mothers of all under two years children on appropriate infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices.
• Conduct anthropometric measurements (weight, height, and age), MUAC and edema of all under-five children.
• Classification of all under-five children in the category of well-nourished, Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), and Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).
• Refer to proper services based on classification to address nutritional status.
• Nutrition education
• Food demonstration
• Take part in CHW monthly meeting and ensure nutrition issues are supported - Identify beneficiaries which require follow-up visits and share information wif CHSs/CHWs
• Maintain regular reports to monitor and track delivery of nutrition services.
Job Requirement
Qualifications:
• Minimum 12th class graduation
• Fluent in Pashto and Dari languages,
• Preferably has medical or social background and must have good communication skills.
• Experience in nutrition or health programs is an advantage Good teamwork spirit
• The nutrition counselor works closely with HF staff
• Self–motivated
