Job Description

Job Summery & Purpose:

Overall responsibility of Psychosocial Counsellor is to Provide psychotherapy to children and the family in 50 Beds residential drug treatment facility, Herat, Afghanistan.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Develop treatment plan for their patients and help them find ways of coping with their destructive urges.
Develop and lead BT base therapy groups for children and adolescents in residential treatment.
Provide psychotherapy to adolescents in residential treatment facility
Provide family with strategies to cope with the side effects of addictive behaviors.
Teach family members techniques for living with a relative in recovery
Actively participate in coordination and weekly meeting conducted by center coordinator.
Conduct capacity Building trainings for staff
Participate in on jobs capacity building training
Performing night shifts as per schedules
Reporting updates of the patients’ condition and status to the Supervisor of the center.
Motivational counseling for treatment with patients in the field and in the treatment center
Individual and group counseling with patients during treatment.
Conducting family counseling sessions.
Active participation in the meetings mainly day planning meeting and morning meeting
Being the case manager of specific patient
Explaining admission procedures terms and conditions policies and ground roles to patient and his/her family prior to hospitalization.
Providing full information and orientation about the structure of the center treatment and policy at the beginning of patient’s hospitalization.
Conducting education-information sessions to patients on specific issues.
Holding scheduled counseling meetings with patients.
Participating in patients’ assessment.
Holding and facilitating public awareness programs in the field
Conducting and facilitating sport and other recreational programs for patients
Carrying services of follow up program.
Performing night shifts as per schedules.
Reporting to the Supervisor at the end of the day.

Follow up visits of referred patients from hospital for other services.

Job Requirement

University degree in Clinical psychology
At least 2-3 years of work experience especially in psychology and Child Protection Issues
Previous experience working on child protection or education Projects
Good Oral and Written Dari skill
Ability to work in multi-cultural environment
Strong communication skill especially with the communities and children
Good Email Writing
Ability to conduct capacity building training
Agree to and comply with all company policies and procedures
