Currently, BDN is implementing Health Emergency Response (HER) project in Balkh and CBNP project in Samangan provinces.

Job Description

The Hospital Manager is responsible to monitor & supervise the implementation of BPHS/EPHS in a provincial hospital. He/she is also responsible to improve the knowledge & practice of the medical staff through supervision & on the job training regarding the diagnosis & treatment of common diseases. The duties are carried out with the consultation of the project manager.

The Hospital Manager is Responsible For:

  • Supervise the whole health activities carried out in the Hospital of related projects.
  • Ensure the patient’s diagnosis and treatment are done according to the national treatment guidelines.
  • Ensure that all registration & medical records system follows the guidelines.
  • In cooperation with the project manager/cluster manager oversee the planning & implementation of BPHS/EPHS and project indicators in the relevant area.
  • Provide on-the-job training to health facility staff in defined areas.
  • Ensure quality in projects & programs through a feedback mechanism.
  • Provide assistance & guidance to the community health supervisor to monitor and organize the activities done by CHWs and LHCs in the community.
  • Ensure that the cost recovery/UF system is being implemented according to the policy and procedure.
  • Prepare monthly activity reports.
  • Give advice and support to the project & to the program staff in related tasks.
  • Maintain close working relations with key players, MoPH, NGOs & UN agencies in the target area.
  • Supports & supervises the head of the clinics in the overall running of the clinics.
  • Support & supervise the doctors & ensure that the protocols are followed.
  • Consultation with the head of the health facility and other medical staff on their difficult and serious cases.
  • Provide job awareness and on-the-job training for new medical staff working in a hospital.
  • Supervise sanitation and hygiene in the clinics, particularly the waste disposal systems.
  • Report any early indication of an epidemic or public health problem.
  • Ensure that drug utilization and consumption are based on the treatment guideline.

Job Requirement

  • Graduate from Medical University/Holding MPH is preferable.
  • Certificate in the English language.
  • At least five years of experience in the related field.
  • Excellent computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of BPHS/EPHS.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities negotiation and conflict-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills oral and written in Dari, Pashto, and English.
  • Must be proactive in being a member of the Provincial Management Team.
  • Interest and ability to travel extensively in the field.
