Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Backup Midwife will be responsible for providing midwifery technical assistance throughout providing midwifery care, monitoring, and evaluation of Family Health Houses. She will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a system for regular communication with community Midwives in FHHs to assist them in different aspects of midwifery care at the FHH level. Technical assistance will be provided by selecting existing up-to-date guidance documents that are appropriate for FHH’s programs and the development of additional guidance documents as needed. She will provide virtual and onsite technical assistance and assist with the FHH midwife from the Sub office. The Backup Midwife will collaborate closely work with FHH Midwives, and in case of Maternity leave, annual leave, or sick leave she will directly work in FHH to fill the gaps.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the continuous quality improvement of integrated and stand-alone RMNCAH programs including service delivery in clinical and community-based settings.
- Contribute to the implementation of the RMNCAH -MoPH strategy at the facility and community-based settings.
Capacity Building and Mentorship
- In collaboration with the RH Officer, establish and maintain regular communication with Community Midwives throughout the District’s FHHs through mechanisms such as direct assistance to FHH midwives in midwifery care.
- Review and disseminate key best practice guidelines documents and provide individual support to FHH Midwives.
- Using guidelines on ‘RMNCAH” and with support from the RH Officer for knowledge management and learning, organizing training materials, conducting capacity building of team members and community Midwives during field visits.
- Using a consultative process to identify and prioritize technical guidance needs for RMNCAH programming (i.e., Maternal health, Child Health, Adolescent Health, Family Planning, Antenatal Care, Intra natal Care, Postnatal Care, Newborn Care, etc.…).
Job Requirement
- Graduate from a recognized Midwifery Education institution or Community Midwifery Education (CME).
- At least 3 years of experience in the related field is required. (Working in clinical sites or FHH);
- Fluency in Dari/Pashto and knowledge of the English language.
- Having updated refresher training certificates in Family Planning, BmONC, IMCI.
- Ability to travel extensively in the field.
