About AKHS-A (Aga Khan Health Service-Afghanistan): Aga Khan Health Service, Afghanistan (AKHS, A), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a long-term partner of the ‘Ministry of Public Health, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’ for the implementation of “Basic Package of Health Services” in three provinces (Baghlan, Bamyan and Badakhshan), and implementation of Essential Package of Hospital Service (EPHS) in Badakhshan and Bamyan province. AKHS-A is implementing three Community Midwifery Education Program Schools each in Bamyan, Badakhshan and Baghlan.
Job Description
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Serve as focal person for mental health services in provincial level.
- Conduct needs assessment of mental health training and coordinate training with provincial team.
- Through provincial networking, ensure proper assessment of mental health and disability problems in the communities.
- Develop mental health referral policy/procedure preferably at provincial level and provide systems for quality mental health and referral services for affected persons; Coordinate with provincial officers on mental health services including referrals.
- Develop a standardized recording and reporting system at health facilities that will allow staff to follow-up patients and link with communities; Ensure accurate client files and records.
- Coordinate mental health case finding in the health facilities.
- Ensure supervisory visits using checklist and tools for ensuring mental health case identification and referrals to health facilities
- Maintain up-to-date reports on the operations of the mental health activities and the Social Care and Rehabilitation Programmed in the program area.
- Ensure of training of health staff on mental health counselling and management
- Ensure the flow of information within the program area, and to other departments or agencies.
- Ensure proper coordination with local and provincial organizations and other key stakeholders on issues regarding Mental Health.
- Liaise and coordinate with other NGOs and sectors dealing with mental health
- Plan, coordinate and implement community-based programs in collaboration with NGOs and community groups.
- Ensure coordination with MOPH on mental health issues, training of staff and mental health services IEC materials.
- Attend mental health trainings as required and participation in national level mental health meetings and forums.
- Ensure smooth implementation of disability programs are in place in all health facilities.
- Maintain the channel of reporting system track.
- Conduct supportive supervision from provinces and HFs
- Ensure and keep proper coordination at provincial level regarding disability service improvements.
- Conduct on the training to the relevant staff where it is needed.
- Coordinate all disability activities are in place and track the objectives
- Recognize gaps and conduct NA regarding disability program in HFs.
- Establish and keep active the psychosocial supporting groups in HF level for better follow up referral and management of disability cases.
- To prepare field reports (monitoring reporting and basic refresher training) and submit to Line Manager to supervise HFs and provide technical support to technical staff regularly.
- Review the analysis technical report submitted by HMIS and provides regular feedback to provincial officers on the quality and quantity of performance.
- To assess analyzed technical report data the progress of the project and to help identifying areas where to focus with limited resources.
