Background:

Youth Health and Development Organization (YHDO) is an Afghanistan nongovernmental organization that promotes health and advocate for the right of young people in the country. YHDO will implement the HIV NFM grant (Scaling up HIV interventions among Key Affected Populations in Afghanistan) in Herat, Kandahar, and Ghazni provinces. Therefore, YHDO is looking to recruit a qualified Laboratory technologist in Herat province WHRB intervention to organize all laboratory activities in DIC.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Laboratory technologist is responsible for the rapid and other testing and complete Blood count. she should be accountable for all tests report results and Laboratory infection prevention she will arrange the laboratory medical and non-medical equipment and provide the request for laboratory supply and reportable to the coordinator.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be present in DIC during working hours.
• The Lab Tech is responsible and reportable to the coordinator.
• She ensures herself about the activation and maintenance of all laboratory equipment and instruments.
• She should have very good and acceptable behaviors with clients all clients will accept the HIV test voluntarily.
• The Lab Tech will be responsible for equipment and instrument update and inventory and protection.
• The lab technician will coordinate all lab results and lab activities with the coordinator.
• She is responsible to provide the correct result for clients, proper registration of testing results, complete Blood count.
• Perform all testing according to National counseling & Testing guidelines and apply the national HIV testing algorithm.
• She or she will follow the infection prevention principle and measurements.
• The Lab Tech is responsible for the result of the tests, therefore he or she should ensure about the test result before recording and distribution to others.
• The Lab Tech is responsible to confirm the quality of lab reagents and rapid test kits (regarding the company, expiration date).
• She will assist the procurement committee when purchasing the Lab equipment, instruments, Lab regents, and HIV test equipment or kits.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
• Maintain a respectful and professional attitude towards clients.
• Support the clients especially women, young people and people from marginalized groups.
