Job Description

Position Overview

The Position of Lab technician will be based in UHI priority HFs of Kabul city and will be 
responsible for supporting the laboratory staff with the primary goal of optimizing lab procedures 
and succeeding in producing reliable test results in the HFs

Position Reports To: Cluster Associate Manager Supervisory position: No
Location: Kabul city (PD 13 - Kabul)

•     Perform Culture testing for Bacteriology including TB Culture services according to the SOP 
available on sputum, serum, stool and other fluids recommended in the available guidelines of TB 
control Program;
•     Accurately record the information and complete documentation to a required standard in a 
neat, methodical manner;
•     Receive samples, log them in the sample database and store the samples at the appropriate 
temperature;
•     Collecting, receiving, labeling, and/or analyzing samples or substances using the correct 
testing equipment, when necessary.
•     Designing and executing laboratory testing in line with standard testing procedures, 
recording observations, and interpreting findings.
•     Recording all experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format 
(written and/or electronic.)
•     Organizing and storing all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to 
safety instructions
•     Ensuring that safety guidelines are adhered to at all times within the laboratory.
•     Maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
•     Cleaning, sterilizing, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment.
•     Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
•     Providing technical support, when necessary.

Job Requirement

Qualification to perform a hemoglobin test, TB, Malaria, Blood C/P, Blood Grouping, ESR, Widal Test,
Anti HCV, Anti HBs Ag, HIV, Pregnancy, HB, RPR, Urine and Stool examination etc.
 Proper recruitment of donor and maintenance of donor record
 Collection, preservation and distribution of blood and blood components
 Capacity of working on Cepheid GeneXpert machine
 Ability of proper smear making for GeneXpert examinations
Qualification Required:
Certified Lab Technician (Please specify MoPH certification in your CV)
Attended DOTS training and other relatedd trainings At least two years of
experience in in medical laboratory
Abilities/Skills:
•Ability to work successfully in teams, across a diverse team in a complex environment with
multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
 Strong skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing, analytical and
communication skills in Dari, Pashtu and English (preferable)
