Job Description
The objective of STTA intervention focuses on honeybee management practices for association/cooperatives beekeepers’ members to increase the technical knowledge and skill of beekeepers in honeybee management. The main topics which will be focused on honeybee disease and mites’ diagnoses, treatment and control, queen bee rearing technical technic, four-season beekeeping management, pollen collection technics, proper and safe use of medicines to avoid contamination of honey, proper and safe use of medicines to avoid contamination of honey.
Tasks (Performance Requirements): The jobs require the implementation and development of comprehensive training materials in the local language (Dari and Pashto) in the form of power points (ppt) on honeybee management practices:
Make a comprehensive training materials PPT on honeybee management practices.
Train the association/cooperatives beekeeper members on hiving and swarming management.
Train the association/cooperatives beekeeper members on diagnosing, controlling, and treating protozoon, bacterial, viral diseases, and bee mites.
Train the association/cooperatives beekeeper members on honeybee nutrition, including proper usage and application of medicine, and on the proper and safe use of medicines to avoid contamination of honey.
Build the capacity of associations/cooperatives beekeeper members in methods for rearing the queen bee practices, the process of collection pollen, plants pollination mechanism development with the community.
Job Requirement
A university degree in DVM, Agriculture, Animal Science, or Animal Health
At least 4 years of practical work experience in the field of honeybee management practices
Previous experience in conducting assessments and training is a plus
Excellent analytical, communication, and report writing skills.
Good computer and presentation skills.
Fluency in Pashto/Dari and English.
