About Afghan Institute of Learning: Afghan institute of learning (AIL) is a Non-governmental, non-political, non-profit and women-led organization (NGO) which was established in 1995 by "Dr. Sakena Yacoobi" to provide education, training and health services to vulnerable Afghans in order to foster self-reliance, critical thinking skills, and community participation. The Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) believes in a community based tailored, holistic approach that: raises the literacy rate, teaches job skills enabling women to contribute to their families and communities, ensures women and children are safe and know their rights, provides access to health care, education, legal aid and food aid and promotes Afghan culture and peace. Everything we do is interconnected because people need good health to learn and work and quality education and job skills to create economic development. Afghanistan needs the half of its population that is female to contribute their talents and skills to helping communities thrive. From its founding in 1995 in the Afghan refugee camps, AIL has grown to where it is today educating tens of thousands and providing health services to hundreds of thousands each year. Currently, across 11 provinces, AIL runs 44 Learning Centers, 6 health clinics with 14 village- based Community Health Worker posts. It offers hundreds of workshops each year on reproductive health, peace, love and forgiveness, human rights, leadership, teacher training and conducts conferences on peace, forgiveness and good governance. Job Description
A general surgeon is a medical specialist who performs surgery for a wide range of illnesses. They are educated and trained in the diagnosis, preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patient care.
General surgeons are expected to be emotionally resilient with the ability to communicate effectively and the physical stamina to cope with the demands of performing surgery.
To ensure success, general surgeons should have fantastic organizational skills and the ability to lead and manage a team effectively while working under pressure. Top candidates will have a high degree of manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, and excellent visuospatial awareness.
Description of Duties
- Examining patients and making diagnoses to determine the need for surgery.
- Reviewing patients' medical history and planning the best procedure for treatment.
- Evaluating and advising patients on the risk involved with having surgery.
- Performing surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities, and patient function while adhering to regulatory and ethical protocols.
- Following established surgical techniques during surgery.
- Prescribing preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures.
- Ensuring sterility in the operating room, and all equipment and instruments.
- Directing and coordinating activities of hospital staff for proper patient care.
- Overseeing all treatments prior to and post-surgery, and identifying associated risks.
- Performing ultrasound investigation for diagnosis and conform the admission of the patients.
- Planning and executing disease/illness prevention and health promotion programs.
- Coordinating follow-up meetings with patients and monitoring their health condition after surgery or treatment.
- Conducting research to develop and test surgical techniques in order to improve procedures and surgery.
Job Requirement
- University/Diploma Degree
- Degree in medicine (essential).
- Certification through the Country Board of Medical Specialties (essential).
- 5 years of residency training in General Surgery / 4 years Gynecology (essential).
- Current state medical license (essential).
- Completed Medical Licensing Examination (essential).
- 8 years of experience practicing as a General Surgeon/ women surgeon.
- Fantastic manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visuospatial awareness.
- sound working knowledge of the project cycle and application of its use, including knowledge of knowing drugs, use of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
