About Afghan Red Crescent Society: Established in 1934, the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) is an independent, humanitarian institution which has been recognized by the government of Afghanistan as an auxiliary to State agencies. ARCS play an important role in delivering disaster response services. Under the 2016 Red Crescent Law, ARCS carry out its activities in accordance with the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary services, unity and universality. Among others, ARCS have the duty to provide assistance to disaster-affected communities, supply emergency shelter, and distribute relief items to vulnerable people. Through its network of 7 regional branches and 34 provincial branches and more than 20,000 staff and trained volunteers, ARCS is amongst the few national organizations with nation-wide outreach and access. Over the past decades, ARCS has managed to uphold its neutrality and enjoys acceptance enabling its teams to carry out principled humanitarian action across the lines of conflict, including in the large portions of the territories controlled by armed opposition groups. With the support of its Red Cross Red Crescent Movement partners – the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Partners National Societies like the Norwegian Red Cross – ARCS has also strengthened its management systems, procedures and partnerships to respond to emergencies, upon request of the public authorities or under its own initiative.

Job Description

  • Follow up of the approved implementation plan and provide specific plan for each provinces. 
  • Ensure MHT staff is following the approved technical and operational guidelines for provision of relevant services.
  • Provide written forwards ways/solutions & recommendation for the improvement of the weak areas as identified during supervision. 
  • Identify the areas where staff need to build their capacity and facilitate capacity building for them. 
  • Prepare & submit the medical, nutritional and non-medical requisitions for MHT activities to line manager and has a close follow up for the reception.
  • Provide/update the monthly consumption of medicine and nutritional supply in the existing pharmacy database and share with line manager.
  • Report any misuse of supplies or any discrepancy immediately to line manager.
  • Facilitate logistical support for MHT supply either in stock or in field. 
  • Ensure NPM on the receiving of the needs and reports on MHT supplies.
  • Conduct internal team meetings if needed, share the key points with NPM.
  • Ensure correct data is provided on weekly and on monthly basis (Review the data with data entry before submitting to NPM).
  • Develop success story of the project for donor requirement and submit to line manager.
  • Ensure staff prepared the reports (Daily, Weekly and monthly) according to the standard reporting tools.
  • Ensure quality delivery of nutrition services through team members.
  • Nutrition activities analysis and prepared activity report to project National manager.
  • Ensure project activities with accordance to ARCS policies and measured project progress to achieve stated goal and objectives
  • Collected and gathered data from activity sites and entering in to hard and soft system(Nutritional Data base)
  • Developing training materials in soft and hard manner
  • Developed project-reporting formats to incorporate activity reports elaborately.
  • Conducting training and providing information for provincial staff and MHTs teams at regular based.
  • Conducted monitoring and supervision from the field based on project implementation plan.
  • Provide regular comprehensive written constructive feedback to MHT staff on strong and weak areas.
  • Any other task which give by line manager

Job Requirement

Educational / Professional Background:

  • Graduated degree Medical Doctor from recognized institute
  • At least 4 years’ experience in Health and minimum 2Years in  nutrition projects 

Required Competences & Skills:

  • Previous experiences working in health nutrition activities  
  • Good organization, planning and reporting skills are necessary.
  • Ability to manage staff & working environment according to local culture
  • Fluent in  English language
  • High flexibility in deployment on the selected area, Must be proactive and show initiatives
  • Develops and promotes effective collaboration within and across units to achieve shared goals and optimize results.
  • Computer knowledge mainly word processing , Excel Spreadsheet ,Ms. access ,internet knowledge is required
