Job Description
Purpose of the Job:
The DVM Doctor is responsible for diagnosing and treatment of livestock, which needs treatment, giving proper advice to humans on how to care for their pets, administering medication, and performing surgery on animals.
Scope of Work:
- Ensure effective on time implementation of approved and planned technical support activities, extension services and strategies at the target project beneficiary in the area.
- Facilitate establish livestock owner’s groups in each target community.
- Capacity building of ORD-FSAC project staff in animal husbandry and animal health.
- Collect necessary data and information to keep track of change in attitudes and practices of target livestock owner
- Development of animal husbandry manuals and training materials
- Provide veterinary services and technical support to ORD-FSAC project selected beneficiaries
- Fully understanding and have completed knowledge and experience the Medicines used for various diseases of animals
- Cooperate on distribution of livelihood inputs to promote livestock
- Support and collaborate project coordinator on planning, implementation and further development of livelihood and livestock components.
- Provide support to project staff in delivery of livestock components and kits.
- Conduct meetings with all relevant project stakeholders at the targeted area level.
- Organize awareness raising camps, workshop, training, and meeting with local community to increase their knowledge and understanding on improved livestock rearing, farming and management.
- Travel frequently to project areas and mobilize related stakeholders and beneficiary communities as per the project activities and agreement signed with DAIL/partners to fulfil the objective of the project.
Job Requirement
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Science or Livestock Development, Animal Health, Dairy Science/Technology or related field with 03 (three years) of experience in similar capacity
- Professional Skills, Competencies
- Proven experience, skills and knowledge and preferred experience on managing veterinary clinic as veterinary doctor, dairy management, animal health care, feed/fodder management, processing technologies and livestock extension services.
- High level of experiences in pathological and diagnostic analysis for animal health and identification of disease and subsequent treatment is required
- Proven skills and experiences in planning, implementation monitoring and reporting
- Working experiences with public set-up and other relevant organizations, strong communication, networking and liaison
- Fluency in English and Dari both in speaking and writing.
