About MMRCA: Background Information: The Medical Management and Research Courses For Afghanistan (MMRCA) is a national, non-for profit, non-political, humanitarian organization established in March 2008 by Afghan Health Professionals and is registered as an NGO with the ministry of economy (MoE) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. MMRCA has been implementing the NFM HIV Project (Scaling up HIV interventions among Key Affected Populations in Afghanistan) in Balkh and Kundoz provinces. Therefore, MMRCA is looking to recruit a qualified Psychosocial Counselor for OST Activity in Balkh province to provide the required HIV prevention related services for OST Activity in Balkh province. MMRCA invites and encourage eligible candidates to apply for the position of Psychosocial Counselor for OST Activity under NFM HIV Project located at PWIDs DIC in Balkh Province.
Job Description
Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities:
- Respect the internal MMRCA and MOPH rules and policies
- Preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual action plan for OST activities with facility coordinator according to performance indicators
- Promote an enabling environment for clients to provide counseling services at the OST center level
- Performing full time and night duty according to schedule
- Provision of comprehensive counseling services (Individual, Family, and Group) according to MMRCA code of conduct and observing professional ethics
- Responsible for following all steps for the MMT program according to international guidelines, OST protocol indicates five sequential steps: Screening and Selection of Patients, Motivation, Induction, Stabilization, and Maintenance
- Registration and recording (Case file) of the targeted client for MMT
- Provision of Awareness and health education services for OST clients regarding harm reduction and HIV prevention
- Provision of pre and post-test counseling services for targeted clients regard to HIV, HBV, HCV, and Syphilis
- Provision of condom distribution and IEC material for targeted clients
- Provision of referral services for TB case detection and treatment to the TB department
- Provision of referral services for HIV positive clients and treatment at the ART center
- Performing advocacy services regard to client rights with health providers, law enforcement officers, and other institutions as per need
- Participation in all related training and transferring to other staff
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports of performed counseling
- Participation in all official meetings, workshops and events for harm reduction
- Identifying risks and problems against the program and sharing them with the OST coordinator
- Perform other related activities assigned by the line manager
Professional Competencies:
- Good Knowledge of fluently in Dari/Pashto and English languages
- Preference will be given to native resident
- Baccalaureate/ Bachelor
- One year work experience in related field
- Received Training about Harm Reduction, HIV/AIDs and Drug Addiction field etc
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good Computer Skill.
Job Requirement
Baccalaureate/ Bachelor.
Fluent in Dari and Pashtu and working Knowledge of English.
One work experience in medication or Health Management field (HIV, Harm Reduction and Oral Substitution Therapy etc.).
