Private hospitals continue to be one of the vital institutions that provide health care services to the majority of Afghan population. Majority of the hospitals in Kabul are privately owned. With regard to their utilization, most of the inpatient care needs of our people are met in private hospitals. Despite their large contribution in the communities, these institutions are affected by the political, social and economic dynamics of the country that in return, may disrupt viability, sustainability and investment.
Health care is an emerging sector in Afghanistan, yet most of the patients who are in need of advanced tertiary care travel to abroad for treatment. According to a survey by the USAID about 70% of an average Afghan family’s monthly income is spent on healthcare and majority of this is paid to private health centers inside and outside the country. This clearly shows that millions of Afghanis are spent abroad by Afghans for obtaining basic healthcare services.
We believe it is a responsibility of the private health sector in Afghanistan to upgrade its services and capacity in order to respond to the growing need of Afghans for tertiary and quaternary health services. With keeping this in mind a group of distinguished Afghan doctors and entrepreneurs have come together to establish a world class tertiary care center situated in 5th district of Kabul city.
The construction activities to prepare the site for laying the foundation of the hospital had started in the beginning of 2016. The opening ceremony was launched on june, 2016 by the partners and well-wishers of the hospital and their dedicated team of colleagues. Dr. Abdul Wahid Sediqi the initiator/ founder and his partners worked together on the idea of establishing a state of art medical facility in Kabul. Acquiring 7000 sqm of land in the city of Kabul, the team selected name ARIANA for its history, originating from our culture, and values in totality. Ariana Medical complex offers 200 IPD beds with quality care and OPD facility in different specializations
